BEAUTY IN IMPERFECTIONS

Welcome! If you have found this website, it would mean that you are seeking help. It takes courage to seek help and you have taken the first step. Maybe you are searching because you are looking for someone to help you understand why you feel the way you do or maybe you find yourself often feeling ‘blah’ but not sure why. It is hard for you to find joy. You have searched for answers online
however they don’t seem to help or maybe you can’t ‘make yourself feel better.’ Or sometimes you wonder if your upbringing ‘has caused you to behave a certain way'. Are you a caregiver of everyone
but yourself? Have you come to a point where you feel resentful of those you love and you are guilty of feeling that way. No matter the reason, I am here for you. You may be new to therapy or may have worked with someone before. Whether you are new or experienced client, I welcome you! I look forward to meeting with you.

I have worked adults, couples, teens and young adults. My clients come from different backgrounds and identities. I have worked with anger, anxieties, relational issues, depression, intergenerational trauma and communication difficulties, religious trauma, parent-child difficulties. I provide parental support and coaching for parents. I have also worked with refugees from war-torn or high conflict
countries as well as folx who felt compelled to leave their home country due to economic or familial reasons.

I strive to provide provide a safe and non-judgmental environment as you process and work through challenges. Using an integrative style in therapy and I work collaboratively with my clients to find what works best for them. I conceptualize under the umbrella of Psychodynamic, Process and Attachment theories. Very often, I would use ACT and Mindfulness-Based skills in sessions and I am not opposed to using DBT and CBT techniques for clients who prefer them.

I embrace a personal philosophy of 侘寂 Wabi-Sabi which is centered on acceptance of transience and imperfections. The aesthetic is sometimes described as one of beauty that is "imperfect,
impermanent, and incomplete". The beauty of our lives isn’t about perfection, rather finding the joy, happiness and peace in the imperfections.

SERVICES

INDIVIDUAL COUNSELING

Psychotherapy is a journey to self discovery and self acceptance. In a world that is consistently, trying to tell us how to be and what to do, it is hard to be authentic. The inability to be our authentic selves can lead to depression, anxieties and anger. At times, not being our authentic selves has caused us relationships or stay in unhealthy relationships. I am here to support you in a supportive and non-judgmental environment.

OLDER ADOLESCENT & YOUNG ADULT

Is your older teen or young adult seem to be isolating, withdrawn or having a hard time? These exciting and yet stressful years are formative. I will provide a safe and compassionate space to help your adolescent or young person regain an emotional balance, resilience and a deeper understanding of who they are as an individual and in relation to those around them.

You Ask - I Answer

HOW LONG DOES EACH THERAPY SESSION TAKE?

A typical session is 45 minutes. There are times when more time is needed and this would be decided collaboratively between client and therapist.

DO YOU TAKE INSURANCE?

At this time, I don't accept insurance. I would be able to provide a bill with CPT codes for you to submit claims to your insurer.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT FROM THERAPY?

Therapy can at times feel invigorating and releasing and at times feel painful and excruciating. I invite you to be honest with me so that we can work together to explore any emotions that come up for you.

DO YOU OFFER SLIDING SCALE?

I offer a sliding scale. Please do not let fees be a barrier to your mental health. My fees range from $180 - $220

WHAT IS GOOD FAITH ESTIMATE?

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical and mental health care will cost. Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services.

You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services. You can ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service.

If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.

For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises.

I say that we have a 'Pre-Tessa' period and a 'Post-Tessa' period. And I don't want to go back to our 'Pre-Tessa' period.
